Core work is an essential part of any workout programme, especially for new Mums. However, most ladies turn to ‘sit ups’ or ‘crunches’ for that flat belly. Unfortunately – these types of stomach exercises are ineffective and also put some new Mums at risk of hernias.
I have put together a core workout designed for Mums. You can do this gentle and effective workout every day to help you strengthen and tighten those core muscles. Remember to always do a gentle warm up and stretch before and after… even a gentle walk up and down the stairs a few times to elevate the heart rate and warm the muscles ready for exercise. If your lower back feels any pain or discomfort in a particular exercise – simply rest and re-visit that exercise in a few weeks when the back becomes stronger and more able to cope.
